How to Reset the H4 Code on a Xerox 1045 Copier

    • 1). Turn off the power to the Xerox 1045 copier.

    • 2). Locate the "Clear" button on the copier's control panel. This button is gray and it is situated above the green "Start" button in the upper right corner of the control panel.

    • 3). Locate the "Auto" button -- it is in the lower left corner of the control panel.

    • 4). Turn on the power to the Xerox 1045 copier.

    • 5). Press the "Clear" and "Auto" buttons in the following sequence, releasing each button after you press it: "Clear," "Auto," "Clear," "Auto." All lights on the control panel should go out and the error code should clear. If the error code does not clear, wait a few seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 5.

    • 6). Program the copier as you would to make 14 copies and then press the green "Start" button. The copier should return to the normal standby mode.

    • 7). Make a test copy.

    • 8). Check the display. If the H4 error code returns, you need to reset or replace the fuser lamp.
