Kate can’t help but wonder how E.J. will feel once he knows Nicole vanished with a baby he raised as his own. Nicole states that E.J. kicked them out and wants nothing to do with Sydney. Kate proposes calling E.J. to see about that one.

“Put that phone down!” demands Nicole. Kate notes how Nicole’s telling her what to do in her own house. Nicole jokingly suggests staying and seducing one of Kate’s sons.

Kate tells her to get the hell out of there. She warns that Stefano would be very unhappy if Sydney disappeared from his life, as he loves that little girl. “As if you really care how Stefano feels,” sneers Nicole. Kate reminds Nicole that family always comes first with the DiMeras. Nicole vows to lay down her life for her little girl and will trample anyone who gets in her way. She calls Kate a hateful bitch. She soon apologizes, claiming she’s tense, and asks Kate not to tell E.J. that they’re leaving. Kate reluctantly agrees to keep her mouth shut, but she’s doing it because it benefits Will, who has gotten himself involved in the custody suit. She tells Nicole to leave and get out of Salem for good.

Nicole tells Sydney they have everything they need now. “Except for the silverware and the family jewels,” adds Kate. Nicole soon realizes that she’s missing a document. After Kate finally disappears, Nicole walks out with Sydney.

E.J. later returns home and says goodnight to Kate, but she encourages him to tell her what’s wrong, wondering if it’s Stefano.

E.J. reveals that Stefano woke up, but he might not get better. He asks if she’s happy, assuming that it’s what she wanted.

Police Station

Will encourages Mia not to be nervous, believing that Uncle Mickey wouldn’t have recommended Justin if he wasn’t a great lawyer. Justin soon enters the room with Chad.

Justin proposes having a civil discussion between Chad and Mia before they start tossing out the legal terms. Will wonders how this happened, since Justin is supposed to be representing Mia. Justin apologizes to Will, stating that he had no idea this was the same case they were talking about. Will predicts Justin will want to drop his new client once he hears the whole story. Chad gets angry and asks how it’s any of Will’s business. Justin threatens to walk out if they can’t act rationally. Chad requests for Will to leave, but Mia wants him to stay. Chad and Will continue to argue about the case. Will calls Chad an arrogant jerk, and Chad attacks him. Justin pulls Chad off of Will and tells him to stop, warning him that getting arrested for assault isn’t going to help him win custody.

After Chad calms down, Justin suggests that Chad might be able to come up with a custody arrangement with the adopted mother. Chad says no way, winner takes all. Mia protests that there’s no winner involved if Sydney gets taken away from the only parents she’s ever known. A disgusted Chad wonders if it was his idea to stick their child with an out of work ex-porn star. “It’s better than giving her to you!” insists Mia. Chad refuses any deal and wants full custody. Justin says he can’t help Chad with that, since he failed to disclose the whole story when Chad detained him, especially considering the bad blood between the DiMeras and Kiriakises. Will wonders if Justin can help them, but Justin says no. Justin states it would be a breach of ethics if he agreed to advocate for either Mia or Chad, since he has learned privileged information from both parties. Chad storms out.

Will wonders if they can at least ask Justin for some advice. Justin wishes he could be more help, but assures Mia that she didn’t actually give up her baby for adoption. “You sold her, and there’s nothing legal about it,” he clarifies. “Because I loved her! And I still do more than anything!” she cries, fearing what’s going to happen to her little girl. Justin predicts that if Mia signs away her rights, Chad would get custody.

Java Café

Mia tells Will that Chad can’t take care of Sydney by himself, and his parents won’t help him. “Actually, they already have,” counters Chad as he arrives. Chad reveals that his parents hired a new lawyer for him, vowing that he’s getting Sydney and Mia will never see her again.

After Chad leaves, Will encourages Mia not to let Chad get to her, assuring her that Nicole will do everything in her power to make sure Sydney stays protected.
Nicole and Sydney are later on a plane when she answers her phone to Sami, thanking her again for her help. She doesn’t think it’s a good idea for them to keep in touch telling her to have a great life. After she hangs up, Nicole tells Sydney she feels sad for Sami, but states that she’s Sydney’s mommy, which will never change. “Goodbye E.J. I’ll always love you,” says a misty-eyed Nicole.
Elsewhere

Back at Bo and Hope’s house, Justin comes over hoping to see Bo. Hope informs him that Bo’s at the station and asks if she can do anything. Justin says it’s a police matter involving one of his clients. She wonders if this means he’s sticking around. He shares that his kids have all left for college and he and Adrienne could use a little break. He assumes that she’s moving back home, but she reveals that she and Ciara are moving into the Kiriakis mansion. She admits that she doesn’t have too many good memories of the place, but admits that Victor can be persuasive. She believes the mansion will be more welcoming since Justin is sticking around.

Victor heads to the pub and leaves a message for Brady, chewing him out for not keeping his phone on. He overhears Pete telling someone on the phone that Arianna didn’t come in.

Back at Arianna’s place, she and Brady have just made love, and she wishes the night would never end. They smooch some more.

Back at the hospital, a nurse fixes Stefano’s pillows. Stefano flashes back to confronting Nicole about the baby switch truth. He calls Nicole, who is still on the plane headed for Rio de Janeiro. She answers her phone to Stefano, who demands for her to come to him with his granddaughter now.
