Search Engine Redirect Virus Removal Guide
The creators of the search engine redirect virus have two goals in mind.
One, make a profit by taking you to advertising pages instead of what you were looking for.
Two, creating a backdoor on your system to allow for more virus and maleware to be installed and steal private data right from your hard drive.
The search engine redirect virus is actually a "bootkit" virus, meaning that it will also hide itself in system restore, so even restoring your computer to an earlier point in time will do nothing.
It's extremely aggressive and because it also hides out in the system rootkit, many antivirus programs will never detect it, even though there is clearly something wrong going on with your computer.
Also note, that chances are if your virus protection program claims that it has removed this virus, chances are that it has not, because it can reinstall itself so easily (it's already hiding on your machine).
