Reading this list a few things spring to mind immediately. For a start if Graeme Swann is the second highest ranked bowler in test matches and the fourth best all rounder then how on earth did he managed to get overlooked in the original long list for the ICC Cricketer of the Year award? Also if Graeme Swann is ranked as the fourth best all rounder in test match cricket then it doesn't really say much for the quality of all rounders in the game today. Not so long ago we had Botham, Imran Khan, Kapil Dev and Richard Hadlee gunning for that title. Possibly it was a golden era but really the decline in the standard of the modern test match all rounder is really quite worrying. Lastly the appearance of Shakib Al Hasan as the third best all rounder in test match cricket and the second best bowler and best all rounder in ODI cricket, along with Ray Price's position as the fourth best ODI is a real testament to their ability and performances in what more often than not are losing teams
