An Enemy of the People ~ 2012 Broadway Revival
The Manhattan Theatre Club takes a fresh approach to Henrik Ibsen's work, An Enemy of the People for their 2012-2013 season.
The plot revolves around "Dr. Thomas Stockmann" who discovers the water that attracts tourists to the local baths is actually contaminated with harmful toxins. Prizing the economy over the environment, the town turns on "Dr. Stockmann." He soon learns that freedom of expression comes with a price.
Adapted by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, the revival of An Enemy of the People will be helmed by Tony-winning director Doug Hughes, who also directed Doubt, The Royal Family, The Whipping Man, and Defiance. The creative team includes Tony Winner John Lee Beatty, of 54 Below, for Scenic Design, Catherine Zuber on Costume design, Ben Stanton on Lighting design, David Van Tieghem writing the original music and doing Sound Design, with J. David Brimmer directing fight scenes, and Tom Watson providing Hair and Wig design.
