    • 1). Fold over about a 1/2 inch on the sides and bottom of the smaller rectangle of fabric to make the pillow’s pocket. Iron the folds so that they stay in place.

    • 2). Fold over about 1/4 inch on the top of the pocket. Fold the top over 1/4 inch again, and stitch in place.

    • 3). Fold the larger rectangle in half with the right side of the fabric facing out. Position the pocket on the fabric where you want it. Remember that the finished tooth fairy pillow will be 1/2 inch shorter on the top and sides because of the seam. Unfold the fabric and pin the pocket in place.

    • 4). Stitch around the sides and bottom of the pocket. This tooth fairy pillow will be handled by small children, so stitch over the top edge of the pocket a few times to strengthen it.

    • 5). Fold the larger rectangle in half so that the fabric is inside out and the pocket is on the inside. Sew along the sides and along the top about 1/2 inch from the edge of the fabric. Leave about 3 inches open on one end so that you can turn the fabric right side out.

    • 6). Turn the tooth fairy pillow inside out and iron the seams so that they lay flat. Use a pair of closed scissors or a pencil to push the corners out.

    • 7). Stuff batting into the pillow; be sure to push it into the corners. Add small amounts of batting at a time to avoid lumps.

    • 8). Fold the raw edges of fabric into the gap on the side of the tooth fairy pillow so that they are even with the sewn part. Stitch the gap closed very close to the edge.

    • 9). Put your child’s tooth in a bag and put the bag in the pocket of the tooth fairy pillow. Have your child place the pillow on their bed that night for the tooth fairy.
