Enjoying baby bath time...
Bathing baby is a fantastic experience of one to remember for years to come.
Enjoy and saviour every moment of this beautiful experience by being prepared and have all the items you need ready to go.
This is important as you do not want to be leaving baby for a second during bath time.
Aim to give baby a maximum of two baths a week.
When its not a bath day just go for a top and tail.
Below are some rough guidelines as how to do this.
Step by step guide to bath time & Top N Tails Top N Tails: Be prepared and grab the following: 1 Changing mat Some Cotton Wool Cooled boiled water 1 Top N Tails washing bowl 1 clean nappy 1 soft snugly towel or a cuddle dry - Step one: Fill the bowl up with cool boiled water and place your little one on the changing mat.
- Step two: Dip small bits of cotton wool into one section of the bowl, wiping baby's face, ears, chin, neck, fingers and hands.
Once done, dry baby by gentle patting dry.
- Step three: Remove nappy and clean baby's bottom with fresh cotton wool by dipping into the bowl as above, BUT make sure it's the other section of the bowl this time! You do not really want to be mixing the two bowls of water together.
- Step four: Put a new / fresh nappy Baby bath: Be prepared and grab the following: 1 Bath thermometer 1 Baby bath 1 soft cuddle towel 1 bottle of baby body wash / shampoo 1 soft and gentle sponge 1 soft and gentle bathroom flannel 1 Clean nappy Clean Clothes Step one: Fill the baby bath with approximately four to eight centimetres of warm water.
Test it with the thermometer and it should be skin temperature.
Step two: Gently take clothes off baby and keep baby warm by using your towel.
Tuck baby's lower body underneath your arm and supporting baby's head with one hand hold baby over the bath as you wash hair with the other hand.
Once done, pat baby dry with the towel.
Step three: Once you have completed step two, take off the rest of the cuddly towel and very very gently lower baby in.
Make sure you support baby's head as you do this and use the sponge to wash baby with your other hand.
Step four: Take baby out of the bath and wrap up straight away with the towel, dry all over and then put a new fresh nappy on.
Note: You MUST NEVER leave baby unattended The advise above is given in good faith and as general advice from a mum, if you are not sure of anything make sure you speak to your health visitor or other medical advisor.
