"Mystery PI: The New York Fortune" Hints & Tips

104 11

    Special Items

    • Every scene will have special items that only appear in that scene, but they all have an apple, a key and a magnifying glass. Apples and keys are worth 10,000 points each, and an additional 100,000 points each if you find them in all 25 scenes. Magnifying glasses do not give immediate bonuses, but finding all 25 will net you a whopping 1 million point bonus.

    In-Game Hints

    • If you find yourself completely stuck and unable to find anything on your list, the "hint" button underneath your clue list will reveal one of your undiscovered clues. Click on it and a clue will flash yellow both on your list and in the scene. Use this only as a last resort as each time you do it costs you 7,500 points. It also takes a little over a minute to replenish every time you use it, though you can turn on "unlimited help" in the options menu. Even in unlimited mode, hints will still cost 7,500 points.

    Perfect Investigation

    • You will sometimes discover enough clues to move on to the next scene even though there are clearly still clues in the room. Decline the game's offer to move on and keep looking. If you find everything on the clue list, you will get the "Perfect Investigation Bonus" of 25,000 points.

    Riddles

    • Some of the clues are not as straightforward as others. For example, at the baseball stadium, "playing card" and "baseball glove" simply tell you exactly what to look for. "Slugger's tool," however, is not as precise in its reference to a baseball bat. Clues in all caps indicate the word itself is to be found rather than the object it references. "POTS," for example, means you look for the word "pots" somewhere in the scene rather than actual pots.

    Speed Bonus

    • If you find several items in a row and click on them quickly in succession, you will build a "speed bonus." Do not, however, wildly click in hopes of quickly finding items. The speed bonus will not be enough to offset the 2,500 points you lose for each wrong click.
