    Savings Account

    • You should open a savings account, which is a bank account that will accrue some interest on the money you place in the account. You may be able to have your employer deposit a portion of your paycheck into the savings account. If you have a debit card for your savings account, cut it up. Having limited access to your savings account will prevent you from spending the money in it.

    Spending

    • If you are planning to go out, decide how much money you can afford to spend. When you leave, only take the money you can afford to spend with you. If you do not have anymore money, you can't spend it.

    College Financial Aid

    • The federal government gives financial aid in the form of grants and work-study programs, but you must fill out the FAFSA, which the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you do not qualify for free financial aid,called a grant, you may qualify for low-interest student loans.
