Update your website with a CMS - content management system

There are billions of websites on the Internet these days, but many of them are either out of date or displaying old offers. Owning a website will compliment your business, but leaving it out of date could put off potential buyers from making that initial contact.

A few years ago, every time you wanted to add/edit/delete images or text on your site, even just a word or two, you would have to pay a web design company a fee to do the job for you. Today, CMS (content management systems) can be integrated into your website for a very small price, to allow you full access to the content, enabling you to update the site as and when you please. Users can update all content through an easy to use administration area called the "Back Office". If you can write a letter using a standard word processor, you can update the website.

The benefits from a CMS are massive. You can change the website content whenever you wish, without having to pay a web design company. Also, a CMS gives you the power to add offers to your website at late notice, and to pull them whenever you see fit, without having to wait (or pay).

There are lots of excellent content management systems out there and any good web design edinburgh company will be able to guide you through the best ones out there. There are two main types of systems: Blogging platforms, and content management platforms. The best blogging platform out there would have to be Wordpress, most web design edinburgh guys out there can turn it into a nifty content management system. Also, the best CMS framwork out there I think is Modx. Modx is a whole application framework and can have many things added to it to make it do more for your business. Modx is also very easy to design for anyone who can code in (X)HTML, and you just enter your code and put a place holder where you want the content to appear.

Blogging and CMS software are both absolutely fine for a content managed website. However, I personally like to keep blogging software for blogging, and CMS software for content managed websites, but others may feel different.

So as you can see it is very easy to have a website that you can update yourself whenever you feel the need, and it does not need to cost you an arm and a leg to get it set up. Doing a Google search for "web design edinburgh" will bring up alot of good people to get in contact with. who I'm sure can give you alot of advice!
