Well the mid-term elections are over.
We as a country are more polarized than ever.
Those of us who want to be balanced are becoming fewer and fewer.
It's almost getting to the point of civil war without the shooting.
Neighbor against neighbor, friend against former friend, family members fighting over political ideologies.
Makes no sense to me.
We as a nation have forgotten the one thing that has made this country great.
WE, the people, are in charge.
The politicians are supposed to work for us.
I know they don't act like it.
I know that most on both sides of the aisle are bought and paid for by special interests.
I know that right now if things don't change fast we will lose our country to corporate rule.
It doesn't have to be that way though.
Here's why.
There are more of us in the middle than there are at the top.
We, the people, are mostly made up of hard working, middle class, educated people.
We do most of the buying of products, we are the ones that keep money moving, and we hold the purse strings to the economy.
We chose whom we do business with.
We can do it with the big corporations or we can deal with the small local businessman and support our own kind.
It's our choice.
We have the power; we just need to use it.
Rest assured the upper 2% of this country is not purchasing enough to keep this country stable economically.
First though we have to realize that we are addicted to cheap goods.
We have become accustomed to having dozens of things we used to have a couple of because now they're made off shore and are cheaper.
We need to change our thinking to one of supporting jobs in this country even if we, as individuals, have to do with less.
By less I mean instead of having 12 pairs of foreign made shoes maybe we have only six pairs of American made.
The same goes for jeans, automobiles, and kitchen appliances, whatever.
We can invest in America and save our country from destruction.
Only we can do it.
No one is going to do it for us.
When we buy American we send a message to the corporations that we aren't playing their game anymore.
That we, the consumers, are in charge and we will control things with our buying power.
When container after container of foreign goods sits idle on our docks then the message will get through.
We will no longer except inferior, cheaply made products, and will do without rather than buy them.
We will vote with our dollars since our political votes aren't getting us anywhere.
Once we exercise our ability to control the flow of revenue we will once again control the government.
I know it seems simple to say the least.
I own a foreign made car, but I will be looking at a domestic one next time.
If need be I'll buy used so that the revenue stays in my neighborhood.
It's the same with all my other purchases.
I am actively becoming more conscious of my purchasing habits.
I network and patronize small local businesses.
I get the word out about my fellow entrepreneurs who in the spirit of the founding fathers take risks to build their own business into profitable companies that in turn hire my neighbors and friends.
I do this without the bias of political views for the good of all.
It's up to us.
Let the revolution begin.
