How to fight against low self esteem
In order to overcome low self esteem is to shift from the way we feel emotionally about ourselves. Changing our emotion needs changing two different deep beliefs about our own image.
Two deep rooted beliefs about ourselves:
One of the two beliefs is the belief that we are not sufficientlygood .It is usually associated with our looks i.e. our smartness, financial status, etc. The second belief is the image of success that we feel we should have. Changing these beliefs will help us in overcoming insecurity and raise our self esteem.
Cause of low self esteem:
When your mind has an image of success that you "should be" it always consists of happy moments with that image. It is an image of perfection which comes into play in our mind. Our brain compares between the image of perfection and our current image. The comparison at times results in rejection for not meeting the image of perfection. It causes us to reject ourselves. The self rejection results in feeling of low self esteem in us.
Feeling of no self rejection:
dissolving our image of perfection is quite contrary to our sense of logic about building confidence and self esteem. This is due to the reason that reaching the image of perfection will result in gaining confidence about our success in life. We desire to have these feelings and reach the image of perfection.
Achieving success does not give permanent confidence:
Remember that achieving our image of success does not alter our state of emotion. It does not permanently change the way we believe about ourselves. Many times people having achieved their aims still find themselves unsatisfied as well as unfulfilled. Your emotional state may change temporarily for the immediate success. But the core belief of not being good enough aims at a higher goal for us to achieve.
Win over your feelings of insecurity and fear:
To develop self esteem you have to fight against emotions of insecurity and fear. The emotions are not a problem by themselves. These are just the resulting symptom of negative core beliefs.
We are not the fit person to make a judgment about ourselves. We cannot see the proper "self" image we are looking at. We are the person who is looking. This means that the "self image" created is not a proper "non self" image. This awareness helps to change our point of view and is a starting for a change in belief.
Theory of self esteem:
A vital theory of self-esteem is that we have believed gains social acceptance or rejection. Our self-esteem level depends upon how much acceptance or rejection we receive in the social world. As such, someone experiencing lot of acceptance will gain higher self-esteem compared to those who experiencing rejection would have lower self-esteem in their lives. Many people have artificially low self-esteem. Some of them also have anxiety problems especially those who suffer from lack of confidence.
