Generic Zantac (Ranitidine) is a medicine which is used for various stomach related issues such as acidity, ulcer, etc. This is a histamine-2 receptor antagonist, which works by reducing the production of stomach acid.  Generic Zantac is also said to be beneficial in dealing with ulcer of intestine and may be used for other conditions as found suitable by the health expert.

Generic Zantac is a medicine which is used to treat as well as prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers. It also treats conditions wherein stomach produces excess acid, for example Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, erosive esophagitis, etc. It is beneficial in also dealing with medical complications such as GERD or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and other such issues wherein acid travels back from stomach towards esophagus which usually causes heartburns. 

Generic Zantac is categorized as an H2 Histamine Blocker which is why it helps in decreasing the amount of acid that is generated in the stomach. Generic Zantac Composition:

Active ingredient of this medicine is Ranitidine Hydrochloride. Generic Zantac is also available in syrup form while the tablets come in different potencies. The chief component of the medicine is chemically denoted as N[2-[[[5-[(dimethylamino)methyl]-2furanyl]methyl]thio]ethyl]-N'-methyl-2-nitro-1,1-ethenediamine, HCl. While the molecular weight of the medicine is 350.87 the formula for the ingredient in C13H22N4O3S•HCl.

Using Generic Zantac:

• Generic Zantac should be used as per instructions from your doctor. This would help in avoiding inappropriate use and decreasing chances of any side-effects.
• It is an oral drug and should be taken through oral route of administration.
• The medicine should be used on an empty stomach and twice daily. You should strictly follow instructions from your doctor while taking dosages.
• Generic Zantac may also be prescribed to be used 4 times daily for certain conditions. If doctor has prescribed using this medicine once a day, then it is best to be administered after dinner or 20 to 30 minutes before bed time.
• Body weight may be considered by the expert before prescribing dosage to children.
• Avoid increasing dosage of the medicine and do not increase the frequency of use, disregarding doctor's advice. The medicine should be used regularly and on the same time for better results.

For non prescription use of Generic Zantac:

Generic Zantac is also available without prescription. If you consider using the medicine without consulting a doctor – which is not recommended – then use 1 tablet orally with a glass of water to deal with heartburn and indigestion.  You can also prevent heartburn by taking 1 tablet of Generic Zantac orally with water. This dosage should be taken at least 30 minutes before you consume heartburn causing food of beverages.  

It is not recommended to use more than 2 Generic Zantac tablets in a span of 24 hours, unless it is specifically directed by your doctor. You should avoid taking this medicine for over 2 weeks consecutively unless your doctor approves. You should stop using the drug and inform your doctor if the condition does not improve or in case of aggravation.  

Generic Zantac Suitability:

Through the ongoing course Generic Zantac may become unsuitable for some people, overtime or their body's toleration to the drug may change. In such a case the doctor or prescriber should be informed immediately.
