TOP PROSPECT JOSHUAFLANIGAN ENDS CAREER WITH LINE DRIVE TO THE KNEE

It was a sad day in baseball as Top prospect J. Flanigan has career ending injury. Flanigan, who was on the mound for the dragons came out in the 6th inning ready to dish out his stuff that had pretty much crippled the opposing team through 5 innings. The NE fighting tigers had only registered one run on two hits while scratching their head at Flanigan's crippling breaking pitches.

As the 6th inning got underway Flanigan started just where he left off, striking out the first batter and getting the 2nd batter to pop up to the catcher on a mean knuckle curve. The third batter had on 0-2 count and had fouled off six pitches before he delivered the crushing line drive blow that would end Flanigan's career.

The line drive had been clocked at over 140mph and although flanigan did get his glove in front of it, the power of the hit was just too much and came off the glove of Flanigan and hit his left knee cap shattering it in what proved to be 11 pieces. Flanigan instantly went to the ground in complete agony.

The game was delayed for over an hour as the medical personel worked on him and finally got him to the stretcher and off to the emergency room. By the end of the eight inning the call came that Flanigan would most likely not ever play baseball again.

Coach clark, getting interviewed later could only say a few words," It's not fair." "A player and young man with his abilities and with his work ethic and just pure hearted man should have had the opportunity to get into MLB." "It's just not fair."

Later in the week we interviewed Joshua and his mother and both had an amazing attitude. Josh was quoted as saying,"It's not over, it's just now beginning." His mother, whom was a little more distrought said, "My son is a winner, he will rebound from this and will find a way to make a difference in someones life." "He always has and always will." " I love him and support him in anything he does."

I tip my hat to both Joshua's mother and Joshua and am honored to have gotten to follow what career he did have. I will miss the games he will miss and I will definately never forget that no hitter and 2 homerun game he had that just continues to be the single most amazing thing I've ever seen.

Keep your head high Joshua and always remember that you were and are loved in this great game we call baseball !!!!!!!
