Searching for ClickBank Affiliate Riches - Reminiscences of a Budding Millionaire (1)
What follows is an account of what has been tried and how successful they were.
Needless to say that because I'm writing this and not sunning myself on some tropical beach, I'm still looking for that elusive pot of gold.
Like most people do, I started to sell on eBay.
I sold items I no longer wanted and these sold fairly well.
I bought items at auction and again these did rather well.
However, I soon discovered that buyers on eBay wanted something for nothing and profits were minimal.
I started buying liquidation stock but still found that there were traders selling it cheaper than I could buy it...
I had a brief sojourn into selling vintage postcards.
Some of these sold really well all over the world.
But again too many people jumped on the bandwagon and they became too expensive to buy at auction, especially as I live some distance from the best auction houses and the postage costs became prohibitive.
I bought programmes from eBay powersellers which were supposed to show how to make profits, but I had already tried all they suggested.
So what next? I set up my own website selling health products, beauty products, collectibles and jewellery; even herbal Viagra (which was probably my best seller) until Google asked me to withdraw the item.
At the time of writing the site is still running but I'm about to pull the plug and cut my losses.
Not one to give up, I embarked on my next adventure.
I decided to try my hand at affiliate marketing.
Sounds easy, promote other peoples' products online and get paid commission if people order them.
No stock to buy or store.
Ebooks were first on the list, but I soon progressed to ClickBank and more interesting products.
I found a great web design site that allows for my lack of technical knowledge and lets me drag and drop.
It also provides free hosting until I decide to upgrade to the pro version.
I am now studying various programmes which show how best to market and promote my products.
My brain is on overload, my computer is red hot and my partner thinks she's living alone.
In my next article I'll explain how I'm doing and whether I've made my fortune.
