  1. The African American History and Culture Museum, currently under construction, is temporarily in the American History Museum.
    It contains articles of African History and Culture.
  2. The African Art Museum contains art from the whole of Africa.
  3. The Air and Space Museum contain over 300 airplanes, spacecraft and articles of flight.
  4. The Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center, located at Dulles Airport and contains many aircraft, including; Space Shuttle Discovery, B-29 Super fortress Enola Gay, Concorde, Lockheed Martin SR-71 Blackbird, Boeing Stratoliner.
  5. The American Art Museum contains art and artifacts from the Colonial period through the current period.
  6. The American History Museum contains many delightful objects of history, including among other things; Star-Spangled Banner, the flag that inspired the national anthem; Washington's uniform; Jefferson's lap desk.

    of Indian art and objects of Indian history.
  8. The Anacostia Community Museum contains exhibits showing the impact of government, modernization, social issues and environmental issues on American Culture.
  9. The Arts and Industry Building was the first building in the Institute and currently closed for remodeling.
  10. The Freer Art Gallery contains spectacular artwork from Asia.
  11. The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden show current and emerging artist, along with a lovely garden area.

  13. The Museum of Natural History contains displays from the earliest of human origin and its development.

As one can see, just the Smithsonian contains more museums than one can see in a week, never mind a day.
