Fun Pool Games
Sometimes, kids need new ideas for pool games towards the end of the swimming season in order to revive pool time fun.
Here are a few classics and a few that you might not have heard of.
Sharks and Minnows One player is designated as the "shark" and starts at one end of the pool with all other players, the minnows, at the other end.
The shark will signal for the minnows to swim across the pool and the shark will try to tag them.
Every minnow that the shark tags will become a shark for the next round until only one minnow is left.
The winner becomes the first shark for the next round.
Marco Polo Marco Polo is another classic pool game that is also a variation of tag.
One player is designated as "it" and closes his or her eyes for the duration of the game.
This player yells "Marco" and all other players must respond "Polo" and the "it" player must try to tag them based on the sound of their voice.
If the "it" player feels as though another player has gotten out of the pool, they can say "fish out of water" and if a player is out of the water, they are considered tagged.
Categories In this game, the "it" person is at one side of the pool while all other players are on the opposite side.
"It" decides a category (ice cream, colors, etc.
) and the other players tell each other their chosen item within each category.
"It" yells out items within their category, and if it is one of the other players' item, "it" and that player race to the opposite edge of the pool.
If "it" wins, they remain "it", and if the other player wins, they become "it" for the next round.
Steal the bottle An empty soda bottle is filled with water and the cap twisted on.
The players are divided into two teams who sit on opposite sides of the pool with their backs to the center.
One player, the designated bottle tosser, tosses the bottle into the pool and the splash signals the teams that they are allowed to go after it.
To win, one team must make it to the opposite end of the pool with the bottle.
Fishing Divide players into teams and throw objects such as ping-pong balls and other objects that will sink to the bottom of the pool that are marked with different point amounts.
Signal for the players to go and they must collect the objects and bring them to their end of the pool.
Swimmers must only collect one object at a time.
After all the objects have been collected, points are tallied up and the team with the most points win.
The most important aspect to pool time fun, however, is to make sure your pool is clean and adequately balanced.
Make sure you have all the necessary swimming pool supplies to keep the fun going.
