How to Make the Trend Micro Housecall Work
- 1). Navigate to housecall.trendmicro.com. Click the "Download HouseCall 7.1" link, then click the "Get HouseCall 7.1" button in the popup window. Save the "HousecallLauncher.exe" file to the desktop. Note that the version number of HouseCall may change as updates are released.
- 2). Double-click the "HousecallLauncher.exe" file on the desktop when the download is complete. If Windows displays a security prompt, click the "Run" button to confirm. HouseCall uses your Internet connection to download the latest virus and malware definitions before continuing.
- 3). Click the "I accept the terms of the license agreement" radio button, then click "Next."
- 4). Click the "Settings" link under the "Scan Now" button. A new window titled "Trend Micro HouseCall" appears.
- 5). Click the "Scan Type" tab. Select the "Quick Scan" radio button to scan only the areas where viruses are most commonly found, or select the "Full System Scan" radio button to scan your entire computer. Alternatively, select "Custom Scan" to scan only specific locations, then mark those locations using the directory tree at the bottom of the window.
- 6). Click the "Smart Feedback" tab. Click to clear the check from the box labeled "Enable Trend Micro Smart Feedback" if you do not want to send anonymous data to Trend Micro about potential security threats found on your computer.
- 7). Click "OK."
- 8). Click the "Scan Now" button to scan your computer for viruses.
- 9). Click the "Close" button to close HouseCall if the scan completes without finding a virus, or follow the displayed prompts to remove an infection.
