Any event can be fun, memorable and trendy, but it takes a lot of work, planning and proper execution.
For example; if you are planning a teen sleep over what do you do? What do you need to have? These are some of the questions you need to be able to answer as teens are the hardest to please.
So, you are planning a teen sleep over; first there has to be a theme.
Consider having your teen involved in this as it will be their event.
You are just the chaperone.
Your themes when you were there age, may not be too trendy for them, so to be on the safe side, ask.
When you have ironed out the wrinkles for the theme, then you need to have the list.
Many teens have special friends, not so special friends and acquaintances.
This is very important as inviting people to their party that are not their favorite of people is not going to make for enjoyment.
So you have the theme and the guest list; what next? You must decide whether to do the food, party favors, and decorations or have your event catered.
Many sleep over's usually intimate and special, for the teen, so, maybe you should do the food.
There is no hard and fast rule as to what you serve.
Finger food is always the way to go.
Some barbecue wings, mini meatballs, rolls, tiny sandwiches of whatever kind; nothing fishy, this will be a bit over powering in odor, minimize the garlic and onions during preparation.
If you are incorporating a birthday celebration with the sleep over, then a big cake will be good.
Make sure you do your teen's favorite flavor and colors for the cake.
Chips, lots of it are needed as teens will inhale this food in no time, it's as though they thrive on it.
Supply lots of drink, preferably ones with a little sugar, as you do not want the sleep over to go on all night, plenty of water and no alcohol.
Music is the next thing to consider, try to incorporate some new, some old and not so old, you will want to introduce your teen and her friends into music appreciation.
This is fun, my mother did this with me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, now I do it with my daughter and her friends, and they love it.
Remember, though it is her party, you will want to throw in some education, in the mix.
So, you have things covered, the theme, the food, the music and next are the invitations.
Hand written ones are classy.
They send a message of how important your guests are to you.
You can use quaint invitation cards, but have her write the invitation in them, and have your teen deliver them personally.
It is her party; she must do some of the work too.
Have her help with decorations, cooking the food, just generally helping with the preparations.
The last thing to remember for this event is; have extra sleeping bags for the guests.
And remember, chaperone, chaperone, chaperone!
