How to Use the Mouse to Make Pictures
- 1). Open "Paint," or another digital imaging program on your computer. Most computer systems come with one of these programs installed, but if this is not the case you can download the software online. (See Resources)
- 2). Click on the "Pencil" tool in the top menu. This tool typically features the image of a pencil and is labeled when you hover your mouse over the top of it.
- 3). Select a color to use from the color menu. The color menu is a block of tiny square colors that is located in a toolbar at the top, side or bottom of the screen. Choose a neutral base color to start, like grey or black.
- 4). Draw a sketch on the blank white canvas in the center of the screen. Left-click your mouse and drag at the same time in order to create a line. Practice drawing basic shapes, like circles and triangles, to get used to controlling the mouse and creating clean lines.
- 5). Hit the "CTRL" and "Z" keys on your keyboard if you make a mistake. This command will erase your last step.
- 6). Select a thicker brush from the top menu. Click the "Brushes" icon and choose one of the new options. A variety of brush options are available including watercolor, acrylic, airbrush and calligraphy pen.
- 7). Choose a new color to suit your image from the color menu. Continue drawing the image by clicking and dragging your mouse.
- 8). Zoom in on the image by using your mouse to click "View" and "Zoom" on the toolbar menu. This is useful when adding details and viewing your progress up close.
- 9). Save your image by navigating your mouse to "File" and selecting "Save."
