Disease is generally referred to an abnormal condition that affects the normal functioning of the body of a living organism.
One such abnormality that is very common among human beings is numbness in toes and fingers.
This abnormality is generally referred to as Raynaud's Disease.
This abnormality occurs due to problems of blood circulation to the skin.
Due to this problem, the extreme parts of body lose the sensation of touch and numbness sets in.
The major cause of this disease is narrowing of arteries which reduce blood circulation to the extremities of our body.
This generally occurs in cold temperatures and the numbness in toes and fingers is generally a protective measure which prevents excessive loss of heat from those regions.
In stressful conditions, this condition can also set in which results in lesser blood flow to the periphery parts of the body and conserving of blood in muscles and vital organs.
Individuals with this abnormality generally bear pale or blue fingers and toes due to reduced blood flow in these parts.
Raynaud's disease is generally diagnosed with the help of symptoms one shows.
Based on the symptoms the physician can recommend more tests, the report of which will be able to diagnose the abnormality more accurately.
The symptoms include loss in color of skin which turns pals and then blue, extremities of body becoming cold, numbness in fingers and toes and noses, loss of touching sensation and mild swelling.
There is also feeling of tingling reported in some patients once the blood flow resumes in the affected parts.
Neglecting the treatment of diabetes, foot injury, nerve tumors are some of the causes of Raynaud's disease.
Other factors can also give rise to this abnormality.
Excessive constriction of arteries in cold temperatures can also lead to this abnormal condition.
Treatment to Raynaud's disease is first started by finding out the underlying cause of the condition and treatment to that condition is done.
A host of drugs is available which helps in the dilation of the blood vessels.
Biofeedback is a technique to treat this disease.
In this, the reaction of the body to stress is somewhat controlled and constriction of blood vessels is reduced to a large extent.
Biofeedback heals this disease but needs a greater amount of time.
Severe cases may need surgery of nerves.
Summing up, if you experience numbness in fingers and toes don't panic, visit a physician and get a checkup done.
