How to Disable McAfee Internet Filter
- 1). Click the small McAfee "M" icon found in your system tray at the bottom of your screen. Right-click the icon and navigate to "Personal Firewall."
- 2). Select "Options" and then choose "Security Settings." You can alter the security level by using the slider bar on the right. For instance, if you want McAfee to automatically block each website and ask for permission each time you want to navigate to a web address, choose "Tight Security."
- 3). Slide the bar down to "Open," which disables all firewalls and filters from your Internet options so you can surf freely. Know that when in the open position, McAfee will not block sites that may be harmful to your computer, so leave it on that position only for as long as you need to and change your settings back when you're finished.
- 4). Click "Apply" to save your settings.
