There may be plenty of reasons you've never considered having a fish tank in your house.
Among them: -You don't want to feed the fish on the regular -You hate the idea of cleaning a fish tank when it gets dirty -You dislike fish -You like fish, and have a hard time imagining them cooped up in a small tank The list can go on and on, but the reasons matter less than the point: that you can have a fish-less fish tank.
You may think that sounds crazy, like an object a sociopath would keep in the corner of his bedroom, but I promise that the idea is less insane than it sounds.
Fish-less fish tanks are a great way to create a dynamic, creative display in a closed space, making for easy transport around your home.
And because they have open roofing, you can easily make changes to this display without having to crack open the case (so yes, this is much, much easier than building a ship in a bottle).
All you'll need to keep your fish tank in good shape is a full bottle of Windex and a washcloth, as fish food, scrubbing materials, and the like are beyond unnecessary.
For collectors and hobbyists, fish-less fish tanks can be a unique way to display what you've found or collected.
Rock collectors, for instance, can easily fill up an entire fish tanks with various stones, and each one near the edges will get vital visual space through the glass.
You'll just want to be sure not to pour the rocks in carelessly, as well all know rocks can break glass.
You can also have some fun with seasonal displays.
Change the scenery inside the glass as every season passes, or even do special displays such as for Christmas, Halloween, Hanukkah, and the like.
It's a great way to entertain kids and build traditions, as they'll surely remember the creativity and consistency of these changing displays over the years.
It's something unique your family can work on together, or you can have each person in your household choose a different event or time of year when they're set to decorate the tank.
At the very least, at the end of the day, you can tell a corny joke about how having a fish-less fish tank has changed your life.
So for those of you who love wordplay, you have another object you can use to crack jokes about during the holidays.
