CBS Announces the 2010-11 Primetime Schedule

106 12

Ten years ago, CBS went from being the network that catered to an older demographic to invading the Nielsen top 10 with several dramas aimed at the younger demographic. Forensic drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation led the pack, followed by dramas such as NCIS, Criminal Minds and many others that has made CBS the ratings champ season after season.

Aside from providing great television, I believe a great part of their success can be attributed to keeping the primetime schedule intact - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Viewers always knew exactly when their series would air each week, we never had to worry that CBS was going to play musical time slot with their shows.

CBS is taking a very different approach this season by moving three of their successful franchises to new days/times to make room for three new dramas. Will their gamble pay off or can we expect the cancellation of more veteran dramas next year? Stay tuned as CBS begins the next chapter in their quest for crime drama domination.

Canceled Series:Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, Numb3rs and Three Rivers

New Dramas Coming to CBS

Blue Bloods
This crime drama centers around The Reagan's, a multi-generational family of New York City cops. Patriarch Frank is the New York Chief of Police who rules his brood much like he does with the cops on his force. Frank's son Danny is a seasoned detective on the force, and his youngest son Jamie has decided to join the force despite having just earned his law degree from Harvard. Rounding out the Reagan family is Erin, who is an Assistant D.A. and has become a newly single mother. When Jamie is asked to take part in a covert police investigation, what he uncovers could put the family's legacy in jeopardy and threaten to tear them apart forever.

Cast: Tom Selleck as Frank Reagan, Donnie Wahlberg as Danny, Len Cariou as Henry, Bridget Moynahan as Erin, Will Estes as Jamie and Dylan Moore as Sydney.

Hawaii Five-O
The classic '70s series heads back to the small screen in this remake about a group of cops who are asked invited to join a federalized task force to keep the shores of Hawaii safe from those seedy criminals. At the request of the Governor, Detective Steve McGarrett hand picks his team and heads up the unit under "his rules, her backing, no red tape and full blanket immunity to hunt down the biggest "game" in town."
Cast: Alex O'Loughlin as Detective Steve McGarrett, Scott Caan as Detective Danny "Danno" Williams, Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho Kelly and Grace Park as Kono.

The Defenders
A dramedy about two defense attorneys practicing law in Las Vegas who stop at nothing to help their clients. Heading the firm of Morelli & Kaczmarek are Nick Morelli, who is always willing to take on those challenging cases despite the fact that his marriage is heading towards divorce, and Pete Kaczmarek, a playboy who is equally as talented at practicing law as he is chasing women and fast cars. No case is too big or small for these eccentric lawyers, who can always be counted on to put everything they have on protecting and defending their clients in Sin City.
Cast: Jim Belushi as Nick Morelli, Jerry O'Connell as Pete Kaczmarek, Jurnee Smollett as Lisa Tyler, Tanya Fischer as Sophie, and Gillian Vigman as Jessica.
