How to Create Personalized Insulated Mugs
- 1). Install Adobe Photoshop to your personal computer. If you do not already have Photoshop, you will need to download a free version from Soft32. (See Resources Below.) Once on the Soft32 website, the download button for Adobe Photoshop will be colored blue and near the top of the screen. Click on the download button, and your free program will begin to install on your computer. It should only take a couple minutes.
- 2). Open a new image file by clicking on the word "File" near the top of the Photoshop screen. Then, click on the word "New." A window will appear to let you fill in your particular dimensions. Make your dimensions 8.31 inches wide by 3 inches tall, using a 300 DPI resolution, or Dots Per Inch.
- 3). Create your background. For a standard single color background, double-click the color box, found in the tool box on the right of the screen. A window will appear with a color scale inside. Click anywhere on the color scale to select the specific color you want the background of your image to be. Next, locate and click on the "Paint Bucket" icon inside the tool box. Then, click on your image. The area will fill in with the color you selected in the color box.
- 4). Write your personalized message on your image. Click on the "Text" tool, which looks like a capital "T" in the tool box. Hold down your left mouse button and drag the marquee box on your image. Click inside the marquee box to write your text. You can change the font style, font size, and font color at the top of the screen.
- 5). Name and save your work to a file. Click on the word "File" at the top of your screen. Select "Save As." A window will appear that will allow you to enter in a name for your file and to select a file type. Name your file anything you want, and select the file type "JPEG."
- 6). Upload your work to CafePress. (See Resources Below.) On the CafePress website you will be able to upload your work and place it on any item you wish, including insulated mugs. Start a new free account, which will allow you to upload as many as 50 designs. Once your account is registered, click on the link that is called "My Shops." Once that page is loaded, click on your shop name. Then, click on the link called "Manage Sections and Products." You can upload your image here.
