    Bladder Biopsy

    • In a bladder biopsy, your doctor will remove a small portion of the tissue of your bladder for closer examination under a microscope.

    Urinary Tract Infection

    • You might develop a urinary tract infection after undergoing a bladder biopsy. One symptom of a urinary tract infection is painful and frequent urination.

    Damaged Bladder

    • According to the National Institutes of Health, there is a small risk your bladder might be damaged or even ruptured during a bladder biopsy. If this happens, you might experience pain and notice blood in your urine. If you experience either of these, call your doctor immediately.

    Decreased Urination

    • Decreased urination caused by a severe infection or by a blockage in your urinary tract might follow your biopsy. If you see a sudden decrease in how much you urinate or if you stop urinating completely, call your doctor.

    Treatment

    • A urinary tract infection can be treated with antibiotics. Surgery might be required to repair damage to your bladder or a blockage in your urinary system. If any unusual symptoms occur, contact your doctor.
