The New Honor Farming Trends in World of Warcraft
Honor Farming was always a long and arduous task that players would tackle with minimal relish and a whole lot of wonder at just how long it would take and what they might be able to get out of the process.
Alterac Valley was the essential battleground to use to get through the content while the new honor farming location of choice is Strand of the Ancients and for a few very good reasons.
The Time Limit There is a time limit this time around, something that many players will welcome with open arms.
In the past, players in Alterac Valley could play games that lasted upwards of five or six hours if both sides were evenly matched enough.
This time around, Strand of the Ancients is built from the ground up to be a short, easy fight, only 10 minutes long for each run and even shorter if the Offensive side manages to break through and take the keep.
It makes sure that each run of the battleground only takes a maximum of 30 minutes (if the two sides break the first two matches).
New Content Alterac Valley is old and boring.
Let's face it - no one wants to play the same content over and over again when they could just as easily play something new and exciting with the new vehicles out there.
Strand of the Ancients is fresh and therefore slightly less boring.
No Objectives There is only one objective in Strand of the Ancients.
Defend the keep or take the keep.
If you fail, you lose, simple as that.
If you play through the game at top speed and beat the other side, it can take as little as two or three minutes (for Offense) and that means quick and easy honor points.
More Kills Honor points are much more based on the kills you get now, partially because there are no objectives beyond winning in Strand of the Ancients.
This forces players to spend more time working on actually facing off against each other and getting honorable kills instead of just standing by and trying to get around them and finishing objectives rather than getting kills.
More kills, less objectives, and shorter time periods means a whole lot more points more quickly and a more fun time doing it.
In the end, the changes to the honor point system have made honor farming in World of Warcraft a bit easier and a lot more fun.
So, take a sigh of relief that you won't be spending hours and hours going through all those opponents to get your next set of bracers.
