Pepper in Volleyball is a huge part of the warm ups, training and general exercise.
It basically involves two people standing roughly 4 metres apart, and the ball is passed back and forth.
It usually varies from a pass, set and spike.
Of course, the skill level that is shown depends on how long the players have been playing Volleyball.
In junior volleyball it is not uncommon for Volleyball Pepper to look very messy.
However, if you go to an Olympic game, you will see the players spiking the ball at each other on all sorts of angles in order to warm up for a game.
Volleyball Pepper usually starts off slow and without spiking, and then as you become warm the pace is moved up.
As mentioned before, it usually finishes with full on spikes and passes back and forth.
In general, it is started off with a set, and then the other player spikes the ball back.
It is then passed, set and spiked back.
In this way both players touch the ball and get to practise all of their skills.
It's important to note that there are many varieties of Volleyball Pepper.
Often 3 or 4 people are involved in the drill, and it doesn't have to be in a straight line.
Generally the more experienced players will move even further back (sometimes the length of one side of the volleyball court).
Volleyball Pepper can be done with 4 people on the corners of the court, or with 8 people on the corners.
You can mix it up so there are two balls flying and that players have to ensure they don't hit other players when running around.
A lot of pepper drills involve the players moving around in a circle, or running into the middle to get the ball.
Pepper is truly a brilliant way to learn Volleyball.
