Amtrak Train Tours in Houston

While Amtrak trains run tours across the continental United States, there is but one tour that travels through and stops in Houston. The tour, titled Amtrak's Sunset Limited tour, takes visitors and travelers all throughout the Southwest. It makes stops in eight different states, and offers a variety of accommodations for passengers, whether they are traveling for business or pleasure. - The Sunset Limited tour on the Amtrak train runs three different times each week, and in total, is a 68-hour-long trip. The main cities highlighted by this tour are New Orleans, Houston and Los Angeles.
The trip begins in Florida, stopping 11 different times throughout the state. The train then travels to Alabama, where it makes two stops. Next up is Mississippi with four destinations and Louisiana with five. After Louisiana, the train travels to Texas where it makes six stops, including Houston.
It then makes two stops in New Mexico, before heading to Arizona with four different locations. Its final destination is California, with four stops, as the tour ends in Los Angeles. - This tour offers amenities well suited for both the business traveler and the vacationer. The train itself includes a dining car as well as a sightseeing lounge car. Movies are shown on the train, and there is the option to check baggage.
The train on this tour is a non-smoking one. There are several different overnight accommodations available, including family bedrooms and roomettes. In addition, there are regular bedrooms and bedroom suites. - Along the way, passengers are welcome to end their trip early at any of the cities so they can visit attractions. One option suggested is stopping in Alpine, Texas, to visit Big Bend National Park.
