How to Shop at the Night Market in Batu Ferringhi

    • 1). Plan to arrive at the market around 8 p.m. The hawkers begin setting up their stalls around 7 p.m. so by 8 p.m. the majority of the stalls will have everything out and be ready to sell.

    • 2). Walk along the main path through the stalls looking at the different merchandise for sale. Do not feel like you have to purchase the first thing you see because you will often see the exact same item at a stall further down the street. You will get a good feel for what is available that way before trying to buy anything.

    • 3). Once you have selected something you like then ask for the price. Once the seller tells you the price, ask again if that is the best price; they will often lower it at this point. If you feel like it is too much, walk away; this will often prompt them to offer you an even lower price. If they do not offer you a lower price, then you have information on what to offer at the next stall selling the same item.

Stop at one of the local hawkers stands to sample some local Malaysian food or grab some freshly squeezed fruit juice. All along the market are food vendors selling a wide selection of local foods and drinks.
