Sports and Active Pursuits in Ireland

When you visit Ireland on vacation, you may have it in mind to simply relax, take it easy and not engage in anything too strenuous; certainly that is the accepted idea when considering a vacation! But vacationing in Ireland is not like vacationing elsewhere; you will have opportunity to relax, it's true.
You will also have endless opportunity to dive into all sorts of thrilling activities, maybe ones you had never quite gotten up the courage to try before, and go home talking about them for years to come.
Ireland has a wealth of sports and active pursuits for all visitors, so pick your thrill and make it happen! With water all around it, it should come as no surprise to learn that Ireland is considered a haven for boating enthusiasts.
You might choose to hire a craft or hire a captain to go with it, then take to the open water -or one of the calmer waterways running inland- and try your hand at being a sailor.
Deep sea fishing is also a popular pursuit in Ireland, so why not cast a line or two and see what you can take home? If open water is not to your taste, then come inland to try some shore angling, or snorkel near the coast.
Experienced guides will be on hand to teach you the rudiments of your equipment, which eliminates most of the risk of this pursuit.
If you want to avoid the water altogether you might try cycling or perhaps trekking on horseback; the Irish countryside is breathtaking, and when viewed in the open air from the seat of a bike or the back of a horse it is truly unparalleled.
Of course, you can't get around all of Ireland on a horse; if you are planning to engage in many active pursuits, you'll want to hire a car from a reliable company to get from place to place.
Many of these locations are far enough off the beaten track that a bus is just an inconvenience anyway, so best to take a car, and make sure you don't miss a moment of your vacation!
