Personally, I like the eyes as well as the rest of this magnificent painting

My great, great, great, grandmother was named Myra Thompson,(Hough). She is gone now, but she painted that picture 150 years ago. I noticed the eyes are wrong but the kitty is still cute. I think it is done in oils.
