How to Repair a Recoil on a Toro S200

    • 1). Use the Toro multi-purpose tool or screwdriver to remove the three screws that hold the recoil starter and the cylinder together.

    • 2). Secure the starter assembly in place with a locking pliers as you complete the rest of these steps.

    • 3). Pull the existing starter rope so that it is lengthened all the way out and then line up the metal pulley's cover and rope pulley's cutout areas.

    • 4). Locate the idler pulley end of the starter assembly (the smallest end) and then tie a slip knot to it.

    • 5). Use a Phillips screwdriver or Toro multi-purpose tool and remove the screw located in the middle of the starter assembly.

    • 6). Pull the existing starter rope from the rope pulley very slowly, straight up and then measure the rope.

    • 7). Replace the existing starter rope with a new #4 diamond braid rope and then put the starter assembly back together.
