Career Highlights:
- All-time home run leader from 1974 until 2007 with 755. He passed Babe Ruth on the all-time list on April 8, 1974 with his 715th homer.
- Elected to the Hall in 1982 in his first year of eligibility on 97.8 percent of the ballots.
- Hit 24 or more home runs for 19 consecutive years (1955-73) and was on the NL All-Star team in every year from 1955 through 1975. Made the All-Star team a record 24 times.
- He played in 3,298 games and is first all-time with 2,297 RBI, 1,477 extra-base hits and 6,856 total bases. He had 3,771 career hits (fourth all-time).
- Won 1957 NL MVP and three Gold Gloves.
After Baseball:
- Was one of the first minorities in upper management in baesball, serving as the Atlanta Braves' vice president and director of player development.
