Cecil Aldin was born on 28 April 1870 and was taken from us on January 6, 1935.
His full name was Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin.
Cecil Aldin received his education at Eastbourne College and he also studied anatomy at South Kensington.
He is well known for his paintings of animals and rural life and was tutored in animal painting by the late William Frank Calderon.
His illustrations have been published in his own collections but he also provided illustrations for authors Richard Kipling, Charles Dickens, and James Douglas, and they were used in their respective publications.
One of his more popular creations was his 1930 Just Among Friends Collection.
One of the prints details a West Highland Terrier stretched out on a large chesterfield and at peace with the world.
Another excellent Terrier Print is one featuring a West Highland Terrier as well as a Scottish Terrier.
The two dogs are black and white one is alert looking for a command or treat, and the other just relaxing on a chair.
From his Just Among Friends Collection we also have an Irish Wolfhound and a White Haired Terrier which was created in 1930.
It is a beautiful painting of these two wonderful dogs which contrasts their size and personalities.
Other dogs presented include Spaniels, Chows, Pekingese, Collies, Dachshunds and many other Terrier Categories.
They are presented in various vertical and horizontal canvas sizes, with enough variations to fit any room or wall.
Looking over his work, it is very easy to see why Cecil Aldin was such a renowned animal illustrator.
One only has to take a look at his prints to understand how popular they are, and why the demand seems to keep increasing.
