Could Every House On Earth Have A DIY Power System?

If it were possible for every family on the planet to generate their own energy needs by using a DIY power system using sun, wind and even sewage, then global warming and a myriad of other environmental issues would vanish.

The harmful gases emitted by coal fire power stations and fossil fuelled vehicles would be a thing of the past, so that the natural resources currently used to produce them would not be necessary. If petroleum vehicles were replaced with electric vehicles, the voracious consumption of oil worldwide would cease.

It would mean that every home would have to plug into the natural resources that are everywhere, from the raw sewage to the wind to the heat and light of the sun. This would have to be translated into useable power. This transfer of power from the natural form to a kind that anyone can use is where the snag lies.

Solar panels are difficult to build, and the photovoltaic cells they contain are still expensive, although they are dropping in price all the time. It is simply not feasible to think that anyone can build DIY solar panels.

If a windmill is to be effective, in most instances it has to be rather tall. This implies that a great deal of material is required in order to make it. In addition, not everyone can put one up a pre fabricated one, let alone make one at home.

There are other aspects to building a DIY power system. All the existing fixtures and fittings have to be replaced. It takes an energetic, knowledgeable and experienced handyman to build a small plant that can produce bio diesel for instance.

With wind and solar power, more is required than just a turbine and few solar panels. You also need batteries, inverters and other items. These are indispensable for the conversion of unusable energy such as wind and light into a form that can be used in the home. It is not a simple process.

It seems it can only be a matter of time before the entire planet is perforce generating free power from renewable resources at home. There are already hundreds of thousands of homes where one hundred percent of the power used is generated from renewable natural resources.

Apart from the relative costliness of some of the components, the other obstacle is knowledge. If the average person could understand the requirements then it would be possible for them to install at least a part of a comprehensive DIY solar power system.

Knowledge and know how is the key to the green energy revolution. Fortunately there is a wonderful place to find the information you need, namely the internet. More and more people are downloading the information they need and transforming their lives so they have free power for life.
