I will be proud to convey I was a property improvement contractor for nearly 30 years and i also was lucky enough to win some of the industry's highest awards. However, it has never ceased to amaze me poor people home improvement decisions i have seen numerous homeowners make. Among the most notable mistakes I'd see done over and over again was every time a homeowner would blindly bring in help to do a project as the person was obviously a friend or a friend of an friend. In my opinion this reasoning is not sensible.
Friendship and craftsmanship are not related, but for some reason a lot of people believe other wise. An excellent example of homeowner apathy is hiring you to definitely do a project without ever putting anything in some recoverable format. Who inside their right mind would ever accept to such a disastrous situation? Another much the same blunder would be for a homeowner to blindly accept an estimate on the back of the business card. Oops I almost forgot The government. A lot of people, including myself, think the federal government makes it too possible for someone, that has no ethics or skills, to accomplish home improvement work. How come there still some states that do not have licensing for those doing small remodels? And in the states that do have licensing, what makes some of these states issuing licenses with no applicant being forced to demonstrate almost any competence in home improvement work? This can be like offering a license without taking a road test. Doesn't make much sense if you ask me.
One last situation to blame, one that I would never forgive myself because of not mentioning. Diy television shows are becoming the latest fad in television. It is possible to hardly change television channels without a do it yourself program popping up. The influx of do it yourself shows in the news has been phenomenal. However, these types of shows often unrealistically glorify the home improvement project to be easy to employ nothing ever going wrong. The last time I looked, nothing ever goes perfect, including do-it-yourself projects.
