How to Find the Best ISP Connection Number
- 1). Find and read the list of available phone numbers. The ISP service should provide you with this list, or it may be in the software, so you can choose a number after starting the service. If you have an Internet connection, you can look to see if a list is available online.
- 2). Find the phone numbers that match your area code. After limiting the numbers by area code, try to find phone numbers that have prefixes that you know of in your area. The closest numbers will often be the fastest. Call the numbers with a phone to make sure they are not long distance.
- 3). Dial different numbers and write down your results. When you connect, an icon showing you are connected should appear in the lower right part of the screen. Write this connection speed down for the number you used. The number that produces the fastest connection most often is probably your best number.
