Every child is filled with wonder and awe at every thing surrounding them.
From before birth they are exploring and sensing their coming world.
After birth life is sort of traumatic if the birth is induced, not natural or is not supported by people loving and calm around them.
But these children are survivors and quickly their lungs and bodies begin to adapt to this new world and they begin to reach, touch , make sounds and sense with wonder this magical new world offers them.
Life for the new born can be full of joy and exploration, if the caregivers and parents enjoy exploring and nurturing this new being.
Sadly, most do not really know how to best support this little one.
This is not the fault of any one person.
but the system.
From the begin the most important job on the planet parenting can and is usually entered into without training.
No modeling generally and no real guidance along the way.
Take heart this can be overcome with lots of love and some guidance.
Four beginning steps to raise a nature loving greener child 1.
Observe: Put colorful rotating mobile over the bed.
Let the natural light during the day gentle wash over their play area and play with the light with them.
Have them watch you groom the dog gently or water the plants or look at the moon and stars and talk about the beauty and how much you love all living things.
Show them by your example every day that you live your life and care for them in ecological safe, healthy and friendly ways.

Model: Look at their hands or feet; kiss and play with them.
Say things like "Look at those pretty toes.
Let's count them together 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 .
"Five healthy and strong toes.
"The same can be done with their hands.
Just as we gently demonstrate how to eat different foods as they grow so to we can sing, walk like different animals and most of all show them how to share their feelings and communicate their needs inloving and gentle ways.

Copy their sounds and hand motions and let it be okay for them to simple explore touch faces and things with them.
When they touch your cheek.
Give their hand a kiss and touch repeat the touch on their cheek.
Say "I am touching your cheek now.
" This helps them understand exploring can be fun.
Of course when they re old enough to crawl and reach they must learn not to touch a stove or put the finger in a light socket by bring your hand near the area and saying ouch and pulling away.
Then giving them something safe to touch.

Explore other animals and bugs and plants with them.
Bring a flower close to your face and smell it and say, "Oh how pretty! Look how red or smooth the petal feel.
Smell it does it not smell so good?" Look at every creature big and small with the eyes and wonder of a child and explore the expanding worlds with them.
Children naturally explore, pick up and smell things and copy your behavior.
