How to Make a Website From Sratch
- 1). Register your domain name with an online site such as Godaddy.com or check with a web host to determine if it offers domain registration. Visit the site and type the name into the box in front of the .com. Click on the “Go” button and follow the directions for purchasing your domain.
- 2). Visit a web hosting site, such as Webhostingchoice.com. Review the list of sites and choose one, such as Hostclear.com. Click on the name to visit the site and begin creating your website from scratch.
- 3). Choose from the three types of sites: Home, Business or Business Pro and click on the “Get Started” box under your choice.
- 4). Enter your domain name in the appropriate box. If you already have a name, type it into the second box and click “Continue.” If not, use this site to establish a domain name by entering your choice into the first box and clicking "Continue."
- 5). Type in your personal and billing information on the next screen. Select the payment type and review your order summary to confirm the information. Read the terms of service agreement and click on the box next to “I Agree.” Click on the “Create account” box at the bottom.
- 6). Choose a template and color for your website. Remember it can be changed later if you determine it is not the best for your site. Create the pages for your site and name them accordingly, such as Home, Contact Information or Product Information. Use the “Add paragraph” button to type the information using phrases or keywords to help consumers find your site in a search.
- 7). Upload pictures onto your pages by clicking the “Add images” icon. Place them onto your Web page and use the drag bar to move and resize the photos if necessary. Preview each page as you complete it. When all of the information is correct and the pages are done, publish your new website by clicking the “Publish” button. This makes your website available in search engines, such as Yahoo, Bing and Google.
