How to Create a Support for a Sagging Sofa

    • 1). Remove the cushions, place them on the floor how they appear on the couch and measure the length and width. Cut a piece of plywood in this size. Slip it into place for added support and put the cushions back on top.

    • 2). Install a specific product designed for fixing sagging sofas, such as Seat Savers or Furniture Fix. These products consist of accordian-like panels that you snap together to fit your couch. Slide them under the cushion area, where they give support. At the time of publication, they average about $20 each.

    • 3). Remove the cushions and check the bottom for possible rips and lost stuffing. Replace the stuffing and repair the rip.

    • 4). Rig up a new support system. Remove the couch cushions and screw small eyehooks along the top of the frame in the front and back. Thread a rope through the first one and knot it at the end. Weave the rope back and forth between the front and back eyehooks, pulling the rope as tight as possible. Replace the cushions after completing the weaving.
