How to Stop Notice Forms

    • 1). Open the notice form you receive if it's from someone you know or a company you regularly deal with. For example, your landlord or your credit card company. Some notices do contain important information that you need to know about, so ensure you read these notices.

    • 2). Write down all of the mail you want to receive for a couple of weeks and then sign up for DMA's Mail Preference Service. DMA will stop the mail you do not indicate, including those annoying faux notice forms.

    • 3). Open the notice forms from the companies you don't want to receive mail from. Look for small print or writing near the end of the notice that tells you how to opt-out of receiving the notices in the future. You'll typically have to mail, email or call the company. Allow a month or two for notice form mailings to cease once you opt-out.

    • 4). Call the notice form company's customer service department if there are not opt-out options listed on the notice form itself and ask to be removed from their mailing list. Legally, companies have to do this.

    • 5). Navigate to optoutprescreen.com or call 1-888-5-OPT-OUT if you'd like to stop receiving notice forms from credit and insurance providers. You can choose to opt-out for five years or permanently.

    • 6). Stop providing your name and address to companies you don't want to be affiliated with.

    • 7). Hang or post a "NO JUNK MAIL" sign on your mailbox. Most mail delivery personnel will heed your request and stop giving you junk mail, including faux notice forms.
