Guide Review - Hide!!! by Jeff Foxworthy
What man doesn't love Jeff Foxworthy and his brilliant comedic mind? Maybe there are some who don't watch every edition of Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader, but I don't know anyone who has not at least snickered a few times at his trademark redneck jokes. Certainly, his skills as a comedian and storyteller are well known around the world.
Foxworhty has written 26 books, and among them are three children's books. The first two were Dirt on My Shirt and Silly Street.
The latest addition to his bibliography is Hide!!!, an absolutely entertaining and engaging book for any father and child to love together.
Hide!!! is an active book that dads and kids will totally love. It is the story of a group of kids in a neighborhood who, bored after days of rain, head out to play hide and seek. As each page of the book progresses, the hiding and seeking gets more challenging. At the outset, you and your child will need to find a raccoon, and then a hiding child and two spoons. By the end of the book, you are trying to find the hiding child, and then
- one raccoon
- two spoons
- three mops
- four flip-flops
- five monkey eyes
- six butterflies
- seven trucks
- eight bucks
- nine colored mugs
- ten goofy bugs
- eleven hooks
- twelve books
- fourteen cupcakes
Steve Bjorkman's illustrations are whimsical and engaging. The illustrations feature scenes from a "redneck" neighborhood, complete with broken down trucks, laundry on the line and more. For those of us who grew up in neighborhoods like that, it is a bit of nostalgia.
My four year old granddaughter cackled all the way through this book and had a great time reading with me. And if Kyrstin's response is at all reflective of other four year olds, this book will be a ton of fun for dads and their kids. I loved Hide!!! and recommend it as a great addition to your home library.
