Sell Beauty Products From Home

1

Do your research. Don't decide on a product based on someone else's success with it. Choose a product that does not have a saturation of representatives in your area. Also, do not choose to sell a product that the average household income cannot afford. If the average family in your area cannot afford to spend $30 on lipstick, do not choose to sell that product line. On the other hand, if you know that the women in your area WANT to spend $30 on a tube of lipstick, go for it!
2

Find out from your local courthouse if you are required to have a business license to sell out of your home and/or online. Every state is different, so check it out for yourself. Find a trusted accountant. You may want to file taxes quarterly to avoid paying a large sum of income tax at the end of the year.
3

Create a business plan for yourself. Where do you want to be in one year? Three years? Five years? Do you want to create a down-line? If you wish to spread out into surrounding communities or cities, you will want to build clientele and your reputation in those locations where you wish to be in the future. Your business plan should include ways to expand. Keep in mind that Rome was not built in a day, so you should not expect your business to expand over night. Take your time and do not get overwhelmed.
4

Build clientele: Invite 10-15 friends and host a facial or make up party at your home. Offer a free facial or a promotional price to anyone who will sign up to host a party. To maintain your clientele, once established, send out a monthly newsletter announcing new merchandise, in stock items, sales, party incentives. As your business grows, you may consider creating a website that will process your orders for you as well as increase your clientele.
5

Present yourself well. Be your customer's trusted friend, not a thorn at their side. It is a cliche that the local "make up representative" pesters their customers with obnoxious in-your-face approaches and will not leave well enough alone until the customer is forced to buy a product. Obviously, that is not a tactic that will attract customers! Be an outgoing people person. Be excited about your product. Be promotional, not pushy.
6

Keep a supply of products in stock at all times. We have become an instant gratification society. People will more than likely buy from you regularly if they know that they will get the product right away as opposed to several days or weeks later. Also, keep a supply of sample products onhand, especially of newly introduced products.
