Children"s Entertainers and Other Birthday Party Ideas.

A fond memory from my childhood is the many birthday parties I attended. These parties usually consisted of enormous bouncy castles, funny magicians who performed spell bounding tricks and jelly and ice cream. As a Mother, I am now embarking on the world of children's parties and after attending hundreds' this year I felt compelled to write about the key ingredients which make the perfect children's birthday party.

Not a lot has changed when it comes to children's parties, there is still jelly and ice cream and smelly church halls, but it is what you fill these halls with which is the important element.

Popular types of children's entertainment-:

Bouncy Castle Hire:

My little girl's face lit up when we showed her the bouncy castle we hired for her 4th birthday party, the experience of hiring a castle may seem stressful however we found the process hiccup free. The key thing to remember is to make sure there is one or two adults around the castle to supervise the fun. The majority of the bouncy castle companies in your local area will have safe units which will provide you with peace of mind and a safe environment, however this is not always the case. The best way to choose your bouncy castle company is through word of mouth but a good way to see if the company is clued up on safety is by asking them if they know what PIPA is.

Face Painting:

When I was little I wasn't allowed to have my face painted due to eczema which I was absolutely gutted about and for a good reason. If you want to see crazy, sugar filled children queuing up quietly and calmly then face painting is definitely the way to go. The only downside with hiring a face painter for a children's party is trying to take the face paint off your child's face at the end of the day, complete nightmare. During the party though it is great seeing the children enjoy being turned into their favourite super hero or animal. In my experience the best face painters are also involved in entertaining children as they are able to really engage with the children and make them feel comfortable. I have also found that when the face painters let the children decide what they would like to be themselves instead of choosing from a book, you get a more varied party.

High Energy Parties:

This is quite a new concept for children's parties, I seem to remember a magician or clown at my child hood parties. Which is good for 20 minutes but any longer then that and unfortunately the poor clown/magician has to work at keeping the children occupied. At high energy parties all of the games are designed to keep the children active and running around whilst having fun, which is what children's parties are all about. For the children in my friend circle this is a winner every time because everyone gets to win a prize there is no room for boredom.

These are only a few examples of things to have at children's parties but there are so many more options to choose from. I hope I have given you an insight in to what works at a party and have made the prospect a little less daunting for when the time comes to you.
