The second oldest zoo in the US, it covers 65 acres in downtown Cincinnati with over 500 animal species and over 3,000 plant species in the botanical garden.
The zoo began in 1875, as a small zoo with only a few animals.
Today, the zoo is unequaled by any zoo in the US. - Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of "Uncle Tom's Cabin," lived with her family here until her marriage.
