103 7
You can attract birds and other wildlife to any garden just about anywhere in the world.
You only need to add a few things to get them there.
Food and water will almost definitely get birds in your garden.
One of the most common ways of attracting birds into your garden with water is by simply adding a bird bath or a fountain.
Using fountains and baths has attracted more birds to my garden than any of the bird feeders that I have up.
See with bird feeders you can target specific breeds of bird and most feeders are seed feeders.
Not every bird has a seed diet.
Take the Southern Mockingbird for instance, they prefer insects but they love a fresh source of water.
Regular bird baths can become stagnant very quickly especially if you live in a warmer climate.
The lack of movement in the water can help the growth of algae and other micro-organisms.
If it gets out of hand your bird bath will stop attracting birds and you will be stuck cleaning it quite often and you can not use bleach.
Bleach could harm the birds if you do not rinse it well.
Fountains and baths that circulate the water can help prevent these problems but then you have the headache of running wires to them and the cost of electricity.
Solar powered bird baths are ECO friendly harnessing the power of natural sunlight and converting it into energy that is used to circulate the water in the fountain which can help maintain it's cleanliness.
This flow of water can also be a very soothing and stress relieving.
