Fisheries Biology Scholarships
- Anchor QEA is an environmental science and engineering consulting firm with locations throughout the United States. The firm's focus is on aquatic remediation and waterfront development projects. In recognition of the field and to encourage its growth, Anchor QEA offers a scholarship program. The scholarship assists graduate students majoring in fisheries, planning/land use, aquatic/waterfront environmental engineering, environmental sciences or landscape architecture. Award amounts vary, but range between $500 and $5,000, which is paid directly to the college or university. Applicants must be full-time graduate students or accepted to a graduate school in the United States, and having maintained a 3.0 grade point average during undergraduate studies. Students must submit at least one letter of recommendation from a professional or academic reference, certified copy of all previous college transcripts and a one-page essay on educational goals.
- The Department of Fisheries Biology at Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif., awards one outstanding graduating senior with the Michael G. Scott Award. The $1,000 financial scholarship recognizes the student's grade point average as well as his contribution to the fisheries profession. The award recipient is chosen by the faculty of the Department of Fisheries Biology. While the financial award is not dependent upon entering a graduate studies program, it is intended to promote additional education as preference is given to a student pursuing a graduate degree in a related course of study.
- The Aquaculture, Fisheries and Wildlife Biology Annual Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior entering Clemson University. The $1,000 fisheries biology scholarship is renewable each year as long as a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is maintained. Recipients must major in aquaculture operations and production management, fishing and fisheries sciences and management or wildlife and wildlands management.
- Humboldt State University also offers the San Jose Flycasters scholarship for undergraduate students. The annual $1,000 scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student to support academic research on the conservation, ecology or management of an important finfish species. All applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program within the Department of Fisheries at Humboldt State University.
