How to Get Kids to Make Their Own Beds
I'm not sure about you guys but I find this question particularly funny.
I recently had a problem with this and was in need of an answer.
The reason I find this amusing is because as a child I also hated to make my own bed.
It's funny when you think back about things like this and see yourself from your parents view.
If you put yourself in your kid shoes you realize that making your bed is not fun, and life as a child is supposed to be fun.
So in this article I'm hoping to give you a couple of ideas on how you can change this situation for the better.
One of the first things that you can try is to include this as a chore along with the rest of their weekly chores.
I personally use my child's chores as a way to calculate their allowance.
Each chore has a certain amount associated with it.
I hate to tell you to bribe your kids but that's basically what this is.
If you need a better way to look at it though try thinking of it as their first job.
Your child is learning how to do work for pay.
This is a good lesson for them to learn and can be helpful in getting them to do things that you need them to do.
So don't feel bad about doing this because it can actually be a good thing.
The next way to do it is to some use disciplinary action.
Now if I remember correctly if I didn't make my bed I was usually grounded.
Today we don't like to do these things to our kids.
Now at my house it was a one strike and you're done kind of thing.
I would suggest using maybe three strikes and you're out.
Let your kid know that you are serious and use other forms of disciplinary action to get your desired results.
To be honest with you I prefer the first method, but if you have more than one kid you know that no two children are exactly the same.
These are the things our parents had to figure out and these are the challenges that we must face in the future.
Whatever you decide to do just know that you can't make a wrong choice.
There is always tomorrow to make the situation right.
If you try something and it's not working move on to the next.
Make sure though that you are sticking with something long enough to show your child consistency.
This will be a key component throughout your child's life.
Hopefully you've found something in this article that will help and I wish you the best.
