Cleveland Hospital

Sami comes rushing around the corner and is shocked to see Fay. E.J. mentions how the police found evidence in Fay's car, including a bus ticket, a wig, and children's toys. He quietly asks Fay if she has any idea what the DiMeras do to people, demanding for her to tell him everything she knows. Fay asserts that all she wanted to do was help Nicole get her baby out of the country, which is what the disguise was for.

She insists that Sydney disappearing was not part of the plan. Sami is frantic upon learning that Nicole escaped, fearing they'll never find Sydney now.

E.J. asks Sami if she really thinks Fay is being straight with them, reminding her that Fay allowed her husband to abuse Nicole and make her a pornographic star. Sami points out that Fay didn't even have the guts to call the cops on her own husband, believing that she certainly doesn't have it in her to help Nicole. "Little bitch!" spits Fay, who berates Sami for judging her. E.J. continues to insist that Nicole engineered this whole catastrophe by herself, urging Fay not to blame anyone for this, least of all Sami. He refers to Sami as a wonderful, caring, and loving mother.

Roman emerges and Sami asks her dad if he has anything. He informs her that the Cleveland PD was able to trace Fay's movements, and she wasn't anywhere near the bus station at the time of Sydney's disappearance. He reveals that Rafe tracked down Nicole at the bus station and is questioning her as they speak.

Right now, Roman needs to go deal with Fay.

Sami asks E.J. to promise not to protect her from the truth about anything. E.J. assures her that they're in this together, and he'll make sure Stefano pays if he had anything to do with this. Sami tells E.J. not to put himself in any danger. E.J. admits his surprise that she cares. Sami claims she doesn't, mentioning that he's Johnny and Sydney's dad. An handcuffed Nicole is escorted back to the hospital. Roman emerges with Fay, who asks why Nicole lied to her about Sydney. Nicole apologizes before she is dragged away. Rafe holds Sami, who hopes Sydney knows how much they love her.

E.J. is later on the phone, telling his recipient not to do anything until he/she gets instructions. Roman brings Nicole back to the waiting room and announces that she's going to jail, and no bail this time. Nicole recalls how there was a time she would've done anything to keep Sydney away from Sami and E.J., and she thought the worst that could happen was that Sydney would be taken from her. She cries how she wants Sydney to be with her real mommy and daddy and expresses to Sami how sorry she is. "Get her out of here!" demands E.J. Roman takes Nicole away. Arianna tries to assure Brady that he did everything he could. Brady says it wasn't enough. A distraught Sami intends to call Will and tell him they haven't found Sydney. However, Rafe encourages Sami to come home and tell the kids in person, trying to assure her that Nicole is going to get what she deserves. They leave together while E.J. stands alone.

We see a woman outside wearing high-heeled boots and a dark coat strolling around with little Sydney.

Sami's Place

Will opens the door to Mia, who expresses how sorry she is that his little sister is missing. She asks if there's anything she can do to help. Mia comes inside to see Lucas, who asks Will to check on the twins in the bedroom. Lucas apologizes to Mia for judging or misjudging her, then asks what's up with her and Will, suggesting that the two of them should get back together. Will comes out of the bedroom and overhears, yelling at his dad to leave Mia alone. He rants how Lucas has no business judging anyone. Mia clarifies that Lucas was being nice and apologizing. She says she's the one who is sorry.

Will and Mia sit down, where she asks how the last part of cross country season went for him. He says it was great, recalling how the last few races were his personal best. She giggles when he reveals that he's on the planning committee for the winter dance. He admits that he wouldn't want to go to the dance with anyone but her. She smiles and agrees to go with him.

DiMera Mansion

Kate sits next to a worried Stefano and asks if there's any word. He says every minute lost means it's harder to find Sydney. Kate encourages him to be positive. He expresses how her support means everything to him.

Stefano plays chess with Kate, feeling frustrated that he's lost control. Kate thought playing chess would calm him down, but he insists that nothing will calm him until his granddaughter is found. She worries about the stress not being good for him. Stefano believes that Sami will try and keep Sydney out of his life when she is found. Kate reminds him that E.J. is very upset and not in his right mind now. Stefano warns that E.J. had better get into his right mind really quickly, stating his refusal to put up with his son's selfish crap anymore. "Sydney DiMera is my grandchild, and no-one is going to take her out of my life!" he affirms. Stefano becomes emotional upon recalling Sydney's sweet smile and the way she looked at him when he held her. "Oh God! Keep this beautiful child safe!" he cries. He vows to fight Elvis and Samantha to keep Sydney in his life when she is found. "And I will win!" he seethes. Kate has no doubt about this.

Kate and Stefano continue to play chess. He picks up a pawn and points out that Sydney is not a pawn in a game, but a little girl. He vows to never allow her to be used like a pawn again. He wins the chess game.
